Lake Region Healthcare is a mission-driven rural health system passionate about rural health and rural cancer care delivery. Our cancer center opened in 2010 and construction was funded entirely with community donations. Unlike many outreach models of rural cancer care, we are community-based – truly by the community and for the community - and we understand the needs of rural cancer patients. Our center is growing, and we are looking for a medical oncologist with the sense of purpose and calling to provide cancer care in the beautiful lakes country of west-central Minnesota.
The Opportunity
Lake Region Healthcare's Cancer Care & Research Center is recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Cancer Society of Clinical Oncology. We are the first non-metro site in Minnesota that has been awarded this certification.

Fergus Falls is approximately 170 miles northwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul and 25 miles east of the North Dakota border. Our community is well known for the lake country beauty, wooded hills, and rolling farmland. The city of Fergus Falls is the county seat of Otter Tail County, which is home to more than 1,000 lakes within the region. Within the city limits, there are 5 lakes, 17 parks and recreational areas, and an 18-hole public golf course. The community offers a nature learning center, historic buildings, a performing arts center, and the natural beauty of trails and prairie. The paved, 135 mile-long Central Lakes Trail begins in our community and ends in St. Joseph, MN where many enjoy biking, walking, jogging, in-line skating, or snowmobiling in the winter. There are two state parks within 30 miles of Fergus Falls.
We are 60 miles from Fargo, ND (FAR Airport) and 177 miles from Minneapolis, MN (MSP Airport).

The Opportunity
- Work a 4-day work week with flexible patient scheduling
- Potential for future outreach 1 day/week
- Shareholder opportunity available within the physician owned, and driven practice
- Shared low-intensity 1 in 3 call, primarily by phone
- Work with two oncologists and two APPs to see an average of 12-14 patients per day
- Radiation oncology on-site – with new Varian Truebeam linear accelerator and PET/CT
- Dedicated support staff include Patient Navigators, Oral Chemotherapy Navigators, Financial Navigator, Prior Authorization Team, Social Worker, and Pharmacy onsite
- Multidisciplinary cancer conference
- Dedicated Infusion Center
