Gastroenterology Physician Needed – Texas

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterology Physician for an inpatient practice opportunity in Texas. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive gastroenterology services in a hospital-based setting, caring for a manageable patient volume while utilizing advanced endoscopic and diagnostic procedures.

The ideal candidate will have completed a Gastroenterology fellowship, hold an active Texas medical license, and possess expertise in a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Practice Setting: Inpatient Hospital
  • Location: Texas
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 5-7 patients per shift
  • Credentialing Timeframe: 30-60 days
  • Coverage Type: Gastroenterology inpatient services
  • Licensure Requirement: Active Texas medical license required
  • Licensing Reimbursement: Not provided

Clinical Scope & Facility Details

The Gastroenterologist will provide inpatient consultative and procedural services, including the evaluation and treatment of complex gastrointestinal disorders. Responsibilities include performing advanced endoscopic procedures and collaborating with multidisciplinary hospital teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Core Procedures

Upper GI Endoscopy

  • Diagnostic upper GI endoscopy
  • Endoscopy with biopsy
  • Foreign body removal
  • Fulguration of bleeding lesions (cautery or laser)
  • Injection of varices

ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)

  • Diagnostic ERCP
  • Therapeutic ERCP

Advanced Gastroenterology Procedures

  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) placement
  • Esophageal dilation
  • Esophageal manometry
  • Esophageal manometry interpretation
  • Small bowel biopsy
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
  • Liver biopsy
  • Insertion and management of Sengstaken-Blakemore tubes

Lower GI Endoscopy

  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • Rigid sigmoidoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Colonoscopy with biopsy
  • Colonoscopy with polyp excision

Required Qualifications

Board Certification

  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology
  • Board Certification must be specific to Gastroenterology

Education & Training

  • Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship required

Licensure

  • Active, unrestricted Texas Medical License required
