- Shifts:
- Monday 7:00 AM β Monday 7:00 AM (24-hour call)
- Weekdays: 8-hour daily coverage, with scheduled procedures in the mornings (Wed-Fri, occasional Mon) 7:30 AM β 12:00 PM
- Occasional 4-hour office clinic time
- Afternoon inpatient rounding

- Procedures: Standard gastroenterology cases (no EUS or ERCP)

Job Responsibilities
Perform scheduled procedures in the mornings (Wed-Fri, occasional Mon) including routine endoscopy and other GI-related interventions (no EUS or ERCP).
Conduct inpatient rounds in the afternoons, coordinating care with nursing and ancillary staff.
Manage 24-hour call coverage for the hospital, responding promptly to urgent GI consults and emergencies.
Collaborate with anesthesia and procedural teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Document all patient encounters and procedures accurately in Epic EMR.
Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education, treatment plans, and follow-up care instructions.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, credentialing standards, and state licensure requirements.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Gastroenterology.
Active Pennsylvania medical license required.
DEA registration required for prescribing medications.
Minimum of 1 year of post-training clinical experience in gastroenterology.
Proficient in Epic EMR charting and documentation.
Skilled in performing routine GI procedures (no EUS or ERCP required).
Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage inpatient and procedural cases.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, comfortable working in a hospital setting.
Ability to respond to 24-hour call coverage and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Working Hours
Day Shift: Monday β Friday, 8 hours per day (typically 7:30 AM β 12:00 PM for scheduled procedures)
Additional Office/Clinic Time: 4 hours occasionally for patient visits
Inpatient Rounds: Afternoons as needed
Call Coverage: 24-hour call during assigned weeks (Monday 7:00 AM β Monday 7:00 AM)
Procedures: Scheduled procedures 4.5 hours per day (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; occasional Monday)
Flexibility: Must be able to manage inpatient, procedural, and clinic duties during assigned weeks
Skills
Proficient in inpatient management and outpatient clinic care
Strong clinical decision-making for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
Ability to perform scheduled procedures efficiently (4.5 hours/day)
Comfortable with EPIC EMR/documentation system
Excellent team collaboration with anesthesia, nurses, and support staff
Effective time management balancing procedures, clinic, and inpatient rounds
