Position Overview:
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterologist to join our locum tenens program. This role provides inpatient, outpatient, and procedural gastroenterology care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The position includes 24-hour call responsibilities and scheduled procedural time.
Practice Setting:
Hospital-based gastroenterology service
Patient population: 18+ (adolescents, adults, geriatrics)
Support staff: On-site anesthesia
Orientation: All hours billable
Additional Information
Credentialing timeframe: 90 days (temporary coverage available with clean file)
Observed holidays as scheduled
Teaching or trauma experience: Not required
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive gastroenterology care for inpatients and outpatients
Perform scheduled procedures (excluding EUS or ERCP)
Conduct office-based clinic visits as needed
Manage inpatient care in the afternoons
Collaborate with on-site support staff to ensure high-quality patient care
Utilize EMR for all patient documentation and charting
Schedule:
Coverage: 2 weeks per month
Monday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM
8-hour workdays, Monday through Friday
Scheduled procedures: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM, Wednesday–Friday (occasional Monday)
24-hour call coverage
Inpatient rounds and procedures as required
Requirements:
Board Certification: BC or BE in Gastroenterology
State License: Pennsylvania (willing to obtain if not current)
DEA Registration: Required
Experience: Minimum 1-year post-training
EMR: Experience with EPIC preferred
