This is a fantastic locum opportunity for a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to work in a collaborative, well-supported hospital setting with a balanced mix of procedures and consults.

🩺 Position Highlights

✨ Specialty: Gastroenterology
📍 Location: Plattsburgh, New York
📅 Assignment Dates: May 18, 2026 – December 31, 2026
🗓️ Schedule: ~12 days every 5 weeks
🕘 Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (30-min lunch break)
🌙 Weekday Call: No overnight weekday call 🙌
📞 On-Call: Yes (Weekend/coverage as needed)

🔍 Scope of Practice

✔️ General GI condition management
✔️ Cirrhosis & chronic liver disease care
✔️ Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) management
✔️ Capsule endoscopy interpretation
✔️ Procedures: Endoscopy & Colonoscopy

🚫 No ERCP or EUS required

🏥 Work Breakdown

⏰ 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Inpatient procedures
⏰ 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM: Outpatient endoscopy (~6 colonoscopies/day)

📊 Weekly Volume: ~40 procedures
👥 Inpatient Consults: 10–15 per day (avg. 5–7 new consults)

🤝 Team & Support

✔️ Strong Nurse Practitioner (NP) support 💪
✔️ GI NPs assist with inpatient consults (Mon–Thurs)
✔️ Minimal oversight required for mid-levels
✔️ Collaborative, team-oriented environment 🤝

🧾 Responsibilities

🔹 Mix of inpatient consults + elective procedures
🔹 Timely documentation & care coordination
🔹 Professional communication with hospital teams

🏅 Requirements

✔️ Board Certified Gastroenterologist (Required)
✔️ Fellowship in Gastroenterology (Required)
✔️ Certifications: BLS / ACLS / PALS
✔️ Active medical license (NY preferred)
