Job description
We are seeking a Locum Gastroenterologist for inpatient coverage. This role involves bread-and-butter inpatient GI, ED call, and consultations within a hospital setting. The facility is currently recruiting for a full-time GI and needs locum coverage until a permanent replacement is found.
-Schedule: 7 on/7 off (14 days per month); 24-hour call (includes ~6–8 hours on-site).
-Location: 1 Saint Joseph Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
-Team: 3 dedicated inpatient APPs who assist in endoscopy, on the floors, and in the ED.
-Charting: EPIC EMR.
Job Responsibilities
-Manage an average daily census of 10–20 patients (approx. 10 admissions per night).
-Perform "bread and butter" endoscopy and required specialized procedures.
-Collaborative management of cases with assigned APPs.
Qualifications
-Procedures: ERCP proficiency is [REQUIRED].
-Licensure: Active Kentucky License is [HIGHLY PREFERRED] (IMLC considered).
-Certifications: ACLS and DEA [REQUIRED].
-Credentialing: Clean record required for expedited privileges; must provide a Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation [REQUIRED].
Working Hours
-Availability: ASAP ongoing. Note: Candidates must be able to cover March 17–23 dates to be cleared.
Skills
-Efficiency in high-volume inpatient environments (10-20 patients/day).
-Strong communication for coordinating with a dedicated APP team.
