Position Overview
GI opportunity with predictable procedure volume and manageable call: approximately 8 endoscopy cases per half-day, weekday consult support from a Nurse Practitioner, and one week of coverage per month along the South Carolina coast.
One of our Partners, is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide locum tenens coverage for 7-day monthly coverage blocks throughout 2026.
This assignment combines 24-hour hospital call coverage with structured endoscopy time and limited outpatient clinic, allowing physicians to focus primarily on consultative and procedural work while maintaining continuity of care for patients seen during the coverage week.

Travel and lodging are fully prepaid and not deducted from provider compensation.
Typical Week Structure

Endoscopy: ~8 cases per half-day block

Consults: approximately 15–20 inpatient consults daily during weekdays

Clinic: 2–3 half-day clinic sessions during the coverage week

Call: 24-hour hospital call coverage throughout the week

Consult Support: Nurse Practitioner manages consult intake Monday–Friday 7 AM – 1 PM

Job Responsibilities
The locum Gastroenterologist will provide comprehensive GI services including:

24-hour hospital call coverage during assigned coverage week

Performance of scheduled endoscopic procedures

Evaluation and management of inpatient gastroenterology consults

Rounding and follow-up care
-
Outpatient clinic sessions to provide continuity for patients seen during hospital coverage

Collaboration with inpatient consult team and endoscopy staff
Skills & Experience

Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterology

Active South Carolina Medical License
-
South Carolina Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)

DEA registration (must remain registered in SC)
