Locum Gastroenterologist – Lexington, KY
A hospital in Lexington, Kentucky is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist for ongoing locum coverage while the facility recruits a permanent provider. The role includes 24-hour call coverage with inpatient responsibilities, including rounding, consultations, and endoscopic procedures.
Position Details

Setting: Inpatient/Hospital

Schedule: Approximately 14 days per month (7 on / 7 off) with 24-hour call coverage

Coverage Needs: Ongoing coverage beginning ASAP

Duties: Inpatient GI care, ED call coverage, consults, and endoscopy procedures

Required Procedures: ERCP and general/bread-and-butter endoscopy

Patient Volume: ~10–20 patients per day; ~10 admissions per night

EMR: Epic

Support Staff: 3 dedicated inpatient GI APPs assisting in endoscopy, floors, and ED
Requirements
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology

ERCP experience required

Kentucky medical license preferred (IMLC considered)

ACLS and DEA required

Recent NPDB self-query (within 30 days)

Clean malpractice history preferred
Coverage is needed for multiple specific weekly blocks throughout the year, and candidates must be available for required scheduled dates at submission.
