Locums – Plattsburgh, New York, Gastroenterology Opportunity

  • Locum tenens opportunity

  • Coverage dates: May 18, 2026 – December 31, 2026

  • Seeking a board certified or board eligible Gastroenterologist

  • Fellowship required (no exceptions)

  • Practice includes inpatient consults and outpatient endoscopy

Schedule

  • Rotation: Approximately 12 days every 5 weeks (Monday through the following Friday)

  • Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (30-minute lunch allowed)

  • No overnight weekday call

  • Some call coverage required (details to be discussed)

Clinical Details

  • Daily structure:

    • 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Inpatient cases

    • 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM: Endoscopy procedures (average 6 colonoscopies per day)

  • Patient load:

    • 10–15 inpatient consults

  • Weekly procedures: Approximately 40 (elective and urgent/emergent)

  • Mix of inpatient coverage and elective scoping

Scope of Practice

  • Management of general GI conditions

  • Cirrhosis and chronic liver disease

  • Acute flares of inflammatory bowel disease

  • Capsule endoscopy interpretation

  • General endoscopy procedures

  • No ERCP or EUS required

Procedures

  • Endoscopy

  • Colonoscopy

Clinical Support and Technology

  • EMR: EPIC

  • Support staff: Nurse Practitioner support

  • APPs manage inpatient consult service Monday–Thursday

  • Minimal oversight of inpatient NP required

  • Collaborative team environment

Additional Responsibilities

  • Timely documentation

  • Coordination with hospital teams

  • Strong communication and professionalism

Requirements

  • Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology

  • Fellowship required

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
