Gastroenterology Locum Opportunity – Virginia | 24-Hour Call Model | $4,000+/Shift
Royal Surgical Associates is assisting a large health system in Virginia with identifying a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for ongoing locum tenens coverage in 2026. This opportunity follows a 24-hour call shift model with hospital-based coverage and access to a fully supported clinical environment.
The facility offers onsite lab and imaging services, Epic EMR, and a manageable procedural volume. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians comfortable with advanced GI procedures who are seeking flexible, sporadic coverage opportunities.
Position Highlights

- Clinical Areas: Adult inpatient, hospital, and outpatient clinic
- Average Volume: ~8 procedures per week

Job Responsibilities
Providers should be comfortable performing a broad range of GI procedures, including:
- Colonoscopy
- Sigmoidoscopy
- Lower GI Endoscopy
- Upper GI Endoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
- Esophageal Dilatation / Manometry
- Esophageal Manometry Interpretation
- Small Bowel Biopsy
- Liver Biopsy
- PEG Placement
- Variceal Banding / Injection
- Foreign Body Removal
- Bleeder Fulguration
- Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube Management
- Preferred Experience:
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
Qualifications
- Active Virginia medical license
- ERCP experience required
- EUS experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required
- COVID vaccination highly preferred
- Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation
