We are seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for a locum opportunity in Bismarck, North Dakota. This assignment focuses on hospital coverage, procedures, and call, with the opportunity to work independently in a supportive hospital setting.

🏥 Position Overview

• Specialty: Gastroenterology

• Position Type: Locum Tenens

• Practice Setting: Hospital-based coverage (no clinic)

• Coverage Dates:

  • Nov 23 – Nov 30 (morning)

  • Dec 23 – Jan 4 (morning)

• Schedule: 24-hour call with hospital rounding

• Daily in-house coverage for approximately 8 hours for procedures and rounding

• Locum provider will work independently (solo coverage)

👩‍⚕️ Clinical Responsibilities

• Inpatient GI consultations

• Endoscopic procedures

• Management of hospitalized GI patients

• Daily rounding on consultative service

📊 Typical Volumes

• Scopes per day: 1–2

• ERCP cases: 1–2 per week

• New consults per day: 1–2

• Daily rounding census: 5–6 patients

🔬 Required Procedures

• Colonoscopy

• Biopsy

• Polypectomy

• Proctoscopy / Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

• Hemorrhoidal Banding

• Upper GI Endoscopy

• PEG placement

• Esophageal Variceal Banding

• Acute GI bleed management

• Dilation

• ERCP experience (strongly preferred)

🖥 Practice Environment

• EMR: Epic

• Endoscopy team support with RNs and CRNAs

• No NP/PA supervision required

• Hospital-based call coverage only

⏱ Credentialing

• Estimated timeframe: 60–90 days

✅ Requirements

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology

• State license (or ability to obtain / IMLC considered)

• BLS & DEA required

• Clean malpractice history preferred

• NPDB Self-Query required at submission

• Case logs required for review
