Required Skills:
- Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
- Proven experience performing advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP, EUS, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and liver biopsies
- Proficiency in interpreting esophageal manometry and performing esophageal dilatation
- Knowledge of adult hospital and outpatient care settings
- Ability to work independently and manage procedures efficiently
- Familiarity with Epic EMR system
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with Sengstaken-Blakemore tube management
- Prior work in a hospital call environment
- Additional certifications in advanced endoscopy or related fields
- Bilingual abilities to better serve diverse patient populations
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Residency and fellowship training in Gastroenterology
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting
- Proven track record of performing complex gastroenterological procedures
Other Requirements:
- Active medical license in Virginia or eligibility for licensure
- Ability to commit to specified dates, including potential urgent need for coverage
- Willingness to travel within assigned regions; reimbursement covers lodging and travel expenses
- Flexibility to work 24-hour call shifts, including holidays, with rates up to $9,000 during holiday coverage
