A hospital-based gastroenterology service in Mechanicsville, Virginia is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for multiple locum tenens coverage blocks due to a lack of coverage. This role includes hospital call coverage, outpatient GI responsibilities, and a full range of advanced endoscopic procedures.

Lab and X-ray onsite

Outpatient Gastroenterology & Internal Medicine required

No trauma designation

Average: ~8 procedures per week

Mix includes: GSI, Hepatology, RGA, Surgery, Colon, EGD, ERCP
-
Esophageal dilatation & manometry
-
Esophageal manometry interpretation
-
Small bowel biopsy
-
Lower GI endoscopy
-
Sigmoidoscopy
-
Colonoscopy
-
Liver biopsy
-
Sengstaken/Blakemore tube insertion & management
-
ERCP – Required
-
EUS – Preferred
-
Upper GI endoscopy, including:
-
Biopsy
-
Foreign body removal
-
Fulguration of bleeding (cautery or laser)
-
Injection and banding of varices
-
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
-
PEG placement
-
-
EMR: Epic
-
Board Certified in Gastroenterology – Required
-
Active Virginia medical license – Required
-
ERCP – Required
-
EUS – Preferred
-
Flu shot – Required
-
COVID vaccine – Highly preferred

Clean malpractice history required for temporary privileges
