Job description
We are seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterology Physician for an urgent locum coverage opportunity in a high-acuity inpatient setting. This role focuses on consult-based gastroenterology services within a Level I Trauma hospital, supported by 24/7 intensivists and hospitalists. The position is ideal for experienced GI physicians comfortable with advanced procedures and a fast-paced clinical environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including endoscopy
• Conduct ERCP and EUS procedures as required
• Manage GI bleeds and acute gastrointestinal conditions
• Evaluate and treat adult, geriatric, and adolescent patients
• Perform 5–8 scopes per day on average
• Collaborate with trauma services, intensivists, and hospital teams
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records
• Participate in 24-hour call coverage
Qualifications
• Board Certified in Gastroenterology (required)
• Completion of Gastroenterology Fellowship (required)
• Active Colorado medical license or IMLC with Letter of Qualification
• Active DEA license
• Demonstrated proficiency in ERCP and EUS (required)
• Clean malpractice and background history
• Recent NPDB self-query report (within 30 days)
• Availability to cover scheduled and ongoing dates
• Prior EPIC EMR experience preferred
Working Hours
• 5–7 days per month
• Weekends and holidays included as required
Skills
• Expertise in ERCP and EUS
• Strong clinical judgment in acute GI cases
• Ability to work independently in a consult-only role
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC)
