Position Overview
SMH Innovations is seeking one (1) Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist for part-time, long-term coverage at Providence St. Mary’s Medical Center.
This is a supplemental coverage need with a planned assignment from March 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, pending completion of credentialing and privileging.
Assignment Details

Start: March 2026 (upon completion of privileging)

Setting: Inpatient (primary) with limited outpatient clinic as needed

Coverage Commitment:

2 weeks per month (part-time, long-term)

Coverage Type: Scheduled clinic hours + call

Schedule & Call

Inpatient Coverage:

7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
-
Night call after shift
-

Weekend Coverage:
-
24-hour call coverage

Outpatient Clinic (if needed):
-
Up to 1 day per week
-
Provider will return to the hospital to complete a 12-hour shift after the clinic

Compensation Structure

Overtime:
-
Applies after 12 hours per day

Call Compensation:

Night call and callback billed separately per facility guidelines

Per the confirmed shift schedule

Clinical Scope & Procedural Requirements
The provider must be comfortable with both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology, including the following required procedures:
Required:
-
Upper GI endoscopy (EGD)
-
With biopsy
-
With foreign body removal
-
With fulguration of bleeding (cautery vs. laser)
-
With the injection of varices
-
-
Colonoscopy
-
With biopsy
-
With excision of polyp
-
-
Esophageal dilation/manometry
-
Small bowel biopsy
-
Flexible sigmoidoscopy
Not Required:
-
ERCP (diagnostic or therapeutic)
-
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
-
PEG placement
-
Liver biopsy
-
Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management
-
Esophageal manometry interpretation
Licensure & Board Requirements
-
Active Washington medical license or IMLC
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency)
-
BLS / ACLS per hospital credentialing standards
Credentialing & Experience Requirements

Practice gaps >3 months must be explained

Case logs:

Current case volumes must be included upon provider presentation
