JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Gastroenterologist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens (Locum-to-Perm Considered)
• Location: Prestonsburg, KY
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical + Call
• Coverage Period: May 4, 2026 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00a – 5:00p
• On-Call Shift Schedule: Shared call with additional provider
COVERAGE DATES
• Start Date: May 4, 2026
• End Date: Ongoing
• Coverage duration anticipated to be up to 12 months
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Included as clinically appropriate
• Phone Consults: Included as part of call coverage
• Case Mix: General gastroenterology with moderate-complexity advanced procedures
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Office Equipment Available: Standard endoscopy and clinic equipment
• Specialty Backup Available: Medical and surgical subspecialties
• Support Staff Available: Advanced practice provider support
• Reason for Coverage: Long-term coverage with locum-to-permanent opportunity
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 3 months, including Medicare and Medicaid enrollment

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Upper endoscopy (EGD)
• Colonoscopy
• ERCP (mid-level / moderate complexity)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active Kentucky medical license or willingness to obtain
• Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• DEA: Active DEA required
• Certifications: As required for gastroenterology hospital privileges
• Experience: General gastroenterology with ERCP capability
• Other Qualifications: Strong communication skills and relationship-focused patient care approach
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide outpatient clinic-based gastroenterology care
• Perform inpatient and outpatient endoscopic procedures
• Participate in shared call coverage
• Collaborate with APPs and hospital staff to deliver coordinated care
• Build strong relationships with patients and families while managing complex care needs
