Locum - Physician - Gastroenterology Bay City, MI
Join our esteemed healthcare team as a Locum Physician specializing in Gastroenterology in beautiful Bay City, Michigan. This critical role offers the opportunity to provide essential 24-hour call coverage, supporting patient care in a vibrant community known for its waterfront charm and access to big-city amenities. Whether you're seeking practice flexibility or shore up your experience, this position places you at the heart of a friendly, small-town environment with professional support and resources at your fingertips.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive gastroenterology services with ERCP expertise required
- On-call coverage from Monday at 7 am through Friday at 7 pm, with no weekend shifts
- Supporting hospitalists in a collaborative care environment
- Contributing to a busy GI clinic located less than half a mile from the hospital
- Collaborating with a team that includes two colorectal surgeons within the community
Required Skills:
- Valid medical license and credentials to practice in Michigan
- Proven experience in gastroenterology with proficiency in ERCP procedures
- Ability to work independently with excellent clinical judgment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in a small-town hospital setting
- Prior locum or temporary coverage experience
- Multilingual abilities or additional specialty certifications
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in Gastroenterology
- At least 2 years of post-residency clinical experience in gastroenterology
- Prior experience with hospital-based care and outpatient clinics
Other Requirements:
- Coverage of travel expenses in accordance with the given policies—car, fuel, mileage, and rentals capped at $150 (including taxes), with refueling mandatory upon return
- No third-party bookings for lodging; McLaren’s tax-exempt status excludes reimbursements for taxes
- Availability to start on March 1, 2026, with ongoing scheduling through early 2027
- Must include malpractice rates in your submitted compensation package and be prepared for orientation and training
