Position Overview

A coastal Northern California healthcare organization is seeking a Gastroenterologist to provide ongoing locum tenens coverage. This role includes weekday clinic, night call, and weekend call rotation, with a blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities supported by an experienced clinical team.

Schedule

Weekday Clinic and Night Call

• Clinic hours:

  • 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  • 7:40 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.

• Night call: 5:00 p.m. – 7:30/7:40 a.m. the following day (aligned with confirmed shift)

• Clinic hours and calls during the 8-hour clinic shift are paid at the regular hourly rate

• Night call is paid at the night call rate plus call-back compensation

• Weekday lunch: 30 minutes unpaid

• Office days: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch

Weekend Call

• 24-hour coverage

Work Details

• Support staff available

• Patient volume: 12–16 per shift

• Number of providers requested: 1

Required Skills

• Upper GI endoscopy

• Esophageal dilatation/manometry

• Esophageal manometry interpretation

• Small bowel biopsy

• Lower GI endoscopy

• Sigmoidoscopy

• Colonoscopy

• Liver biopsy

Practice Setting

• Inpatient and outpatient

Requirements

• Board Certification required

• Active California medical license required

• Minimum of 2 years of recent hospital clinical experience

• Current case logs required for surgical specialties

• DEA required

• Certifications required: ERCP, FLUORO, BLS
