Join Our Team as a Locum - Physician - Gastroenterology in Lufkin, TX

Are you a skilled Gastroenterologist seeking a rewarding temporary opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated Locum Physician specializing in Gastroenterology with ERCP capabilities to provide top-tier inpatient care on a 24-hour call basis at a reputable facility in Lufkin, Texas. In this vital position, you will perform essential GI procedures, including endoscopies, colonoscopies, and ERCPs, primarily focusing on inpatient consultations and procedures. The facility operates exclusively in-house, with the hospital handling patient admissions. You will work alongside a team of experienced endoscopy-trained nurses and have access to anesthesia support, with a preference for conscious sedation when appropriate. Expect to manage up to 10 patients daily, addressing issues such as GI bleeding, abdominal pain, SBO, and other GI-related diagnoses. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians eager to provide meaningful care in a well-supported environment.

Required Skills:
  • Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
  • ERCP capabilities
  • Proficiency in advanced GI procedures
  • Inpatient consultation experience
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within a team setting

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with EUS procedures
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Paragon and EPIC
  • Prior locum or temporary staffing experience

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Active Texas medical license or eligibility
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-training clinical experience in GI

Other Requirements:
  • Must be credentialed within 30-60 days; emergency privileges can be granted with clean credentials
  • Willingness to work 24-hour shifts on a rotational basis
  • Ability to handle inpatient procedures and rounding
  • Accommodation arrangements and travel considerations as needed
  • Availability for scheduled dates throughout 2026, including specified 24-hour call shifts
