🩺✨ Locum Gastroenterology Physician – Inpatient Coverage
📍 Lufkin, TX

🌟 A locum Gastroenterology opportunity is available in Lufkin, Texas, focused exclusively on inpatient care with ER consults and procedure-based coverage. This role is ideal for a GI physician with ERCP capabilities who prefers hospital-based work only.

🏥 Facility Setting

• Inpatient hospital setting

• ER consults with procedures generated from consults

• No outpatient clinic responsibilities

⏰ Schedule Highlights

• 🕖 24-hour call coverage (7a–7a)

• 📅 Weekends required

• 📞 On-call role with callback coverage

• Coverage dates available throughout 2026

🩻 Clinical Scope

• Inpatient GI consults & rounding

• Procedures as needed based on consult volume

• Average up to ~10 patients/day

• Hospitalists admit patients

Required Procedures:

• Upper endoscopy & colonoscopy

• ERCP (required)

Common Cases Include:

• GI bleeds

• Abdominal pain

• SBO

• Food bolus

• Ulceration & gastritis

• Diagnostic evaluation of suspected carcinoma

🧑‍⚕️ Support & Resources

• Endoscopy-trained GI nursing staff

• Anesthesia support available

• Conscious sedation preferred when appropriate

• EMR currently in use with planned transition later in 2026

✅ Requirements

• Board Certified (preferred) or Board Eligible

• Active Texas medical license

• Gastroenterology residency completed

• ACLS

• Clean malpractice history strongly preferred

• ERCP experience required
