Summary:
An inpatient Gastroenterology service is seeking urgent locum coverage with providers who can perform ERCP and EUS. Coverage is needed to address gaps in coverage and to support existing locums requiring scheduled breaks.

Schedule & Coverage:

  • 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)

  • Coverage needed on the following dates:

    • February 13–15

    • July 12–19

    • August 18–September 5

  • Ongoing need of approximately 5–7 days per month into 2025

  • All shifts conclude the following morning at 7:00 AM

Practice Setting:

  • Inpatient-only setting

  • Level I Trauma Center

  • GI service functions as a consult-only service (does not admit patients)

  • Adult, geriatric, and adolescent patient population

  • Approximately 8–10 new consults/follow-ups per day and 5–8 scopes daily

  • 24/7 intensivist, hospitalist, and trauma coverage on site

  • EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities & Procedures:

  • Inpatient consults and evaluations of GI conditions

  • Endoscopy, ERCP, and EUS (required)

  • Management of GI bleeds and other acute GI issues

  • Scoping and procedural coverage as needed

Credentialing & Onboarding:

  • Standard credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days

  • Emergency privileges possible within 1–2 weeks for clean files

  • Pre-application and full application must be submitted promptly due to extensive EMR onboarding requirements

  • Completion of Epic modules and virtual training required prior to start date

Travel & Lodging:

  • Providers must stay at designated preferred hotels and request pre-negotiated rates

  • Local/drive-in candidates are highly preferred

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology

  • Completion of Gastroenterology fellowship

  • Active Colorado medical license or IMLC with LOQ in hand

  • Active DEA (must be maintained for the duration of the assignment)

  • Ability to perform ERCP and EUS

  • Clean malpractice and background history

  • Current NPDB self-inquiry required

  • Availability for at least one of the listed coverage dates and ability to commit to ongoing monthly shifts

  • Acknowledgment of EMR training and lodging requirements required for submission
