Job description
We are seeking Board-Certified Gastroenterology physicians for an inpatient-only, 24-hour call coverage. Providers will rotate one-week blocks while floating between two sister facilities.
This role is ideal for experienced GI physicians comfortable with high-acuity inpatient consults, GI bleeds, and ERCP procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
-Inpatient GI consults and follow-ups
-Perform procedures in Main OR and Endoscopy Suite
-ERCP required (no EUS)
-Manage GI bleeds, abdominal pain, food bolus, elevated LFTs, and related conditions
-Average patient volume: 5–8 patients per day
-Rounding typically completed in the morning; procedures performed throughout the day
Qualifications
-ERCP experience required (no EUS)
-Active Tennessee medical license or IMLC eligibility (license must be in place prior to booking)
-Active Tennessee DEA registration (required)
-BLS (ACLS preferred)
-Proficiency with Epic EMR required (facility will not provide training)
-Comfortable providing 24-hour call coverage and responding to urgent consults
-Ability to perform procedures in both Endoscopy Suite and Main OR settings
-Clean background check required
-Malpractice history acceptable (no more than one minor issue; multiple significant issues not accepted)
-Willingness to float between two sister facilities as scheduled
Working Hours
-Shift time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (following day)
-Coverage provided in one-week blocks
-Providers are on call continuously during assigned weeks
-Inpatient-only coverage (no clinic or outpatient responsibilities)
Skills
-Proven expertise in ERCP procedures (required)
-Strong ability to evaluate and manage acute GI conditions (GI bleeds, abdominal pain, food bolus, elevated LFTs)
-Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures in both Endoscopy Suite and Main OR settings
-Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
-Strong clinical judgment and prioritization skills during 24-hour call coverage
-Excellent patient assessment, diagnostic, and procedural skills
-Effective communication and collaboration with nursing staff, OR teams, and multidisciplinary providers
-Accurate and timely clinical documentation in Epic EMR
-Flexibility to float between sister facilities as scheduled
-Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and hospital protocols
