Locums – GI Hospitalist - Lufkin, Texas
Assignment Overview
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (24-hour call)
- Setting: Inpatient only
- FTE: 1
- Reason for Coverage: Permanent GI provider leaving
- Mar 16 (AM) – Mar 21 (AM)
- Jun 8 (AM) – Jun 12 (AM)
- Inpatient and ER consults only
- No outpatient work
- Rounding required
- Hospital admits patients
- Types of Cases:
- Abdominal pain
- GI bleed
- Small bowel obstruction
- Food bolus
- Ulceration
- Gastritis
- Possible carcinoma diagnosis (no treatment)
- Standard GI procedures (endoscopies, colonoscopies)
- ERCP – Required
- Up to 10 patients per day to round on
- Procedures as needed
- Endoscopy-trained GI nursing staff
- Anesthesia backup available
- Conscious sedation preferred when possible
- EMR: Paragon (transitioning to Epic later in 2026)
- Gastroenterology Board Certification – Highly Preferred
- Board Eligible accepted
- Active Texas license – Required
- Gastroenterology residency – Required
- ACLS – Required
- Clean malpractice history – Highly Preferred
