A Level I hospital in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Gastroenterologist for locum tenens coverage beginning May 2026. This is a full-time inpatient opportunity with advanced procedural volume, EPIC EMR, and temporary privileges available.
Assignment Dates May 3 (4:00 p.m.) – May 11 (7:00 a.m.) May 11 (7:00 a.m.) – May 18 (7:00 a.m.) May 24 (4:00 p.m.) – June 1 (7:00 a.m.) June 15 (7:00 a.m.) – June 22 (7:00 a.m.) June 22 (7:00 a.m.) – June 29 (7:00 a.m.) July 13 (7:00 a.m.) – July 20 (7:00 a.m.) July 26 (4:00 p.m.) – August 3 (7:00 a.m.) September 7 (7:00 a.m.) – September 14 (7:00 a.m.) September 14 (7:00 a.m.) – September 21 (7:00 a.m.) December 21 (7:00 a.m.) – December 28 (7:00 a.m.)
Schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. onsite coverage Night beeper call Monday–Friday 24-hour beeper call on weekends Full-time coverage needed Physicians must be able to work a minimum of 7 consecutive days per month
Practice Setting: Hospital-based GI service Level I Trauma Center Adult patient population 434-bed hospital
Department Overview: GI coverage for Level I hospital Patient volume: TBD
Procedures Required: ERCP required (150 performed in past 2 years) EUS required Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement (20 in past 2 years) Diagnostic and therapeutic EGD Colonoscopy with or without polypectomy Documentation of 100 colonoscopies in past 2 years at initial appointment Documentation of 150 colonoscopies at reappointment Flexible sigmoidoscopy Foreign body removal Biopsy of esophagus, stomach, small bowel, and colon Nonvariceal hemostasis (upper and lower) Argon plasma coagulation Esophageal dilation (balloon, bougie, or Savary) Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy Enteral alimentation GI motility studies and 24-hour pH monitoring History and physical examinations
EMR: EPIC
Requirements: Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Gastroenterology Active Ohio license required (open to licensing, IMLC preferred) DEA required ACLS required Minimum of 1 year experience
Moderate Sedation Requirement Must review Moderate Sedation educational packet Must complete post-test with a minimum score of 80% Proof required at initial appointment ACLS must be current and maintained
