Role Overview This locum tenens assignment involves providing comprehensive gastroenterology care in an acute care setting. Responsibilities may vary based on patient population, facility needs, and procedural scope.
Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and manage a broad range of digestive system disorders

Perform patient histories and physical examinations
-
Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including endoscopy, imaging, and laboratory tests

Perform endoscopic procedures as applicable

Develop and oversee treatment plans
-
Manage chronic GI conditions and provide ongoing patient care

Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists
-
Educate patients on digestive health and preventive care

Maintain accurate medical documentation

Stay current with advancements in gastroenterology
Required Skills

Strong clinical knowledge of gastroenterology and digestive disease management

Proficiency in endoscopic procedures (as applicable)

Education & Training

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completed ACGME- or AOA-accredited internal medicine residency

Fellowship training in gastroenterology (preferred for most roles)
Licensure & Certifications

Board certification in Gastroenterology (ABIM or AOA)

Active, unrestricted Ohio medical license
Experience

Minimum one year of gastroenterology experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred
