Role Overview This locum tenens assignment involves providing comprehensive gastroenterology care in an acute care setting. Responsibilities may vary based on patient population, facility needs, and procedural scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of digestive system disorders

• Perform patient histories and physical examinations

• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including endoscopy, imaging, and laboratory tests

• Perform endoscopic procedures as applicable

• Develop and oversee treatment plans

• Manage chronic GI conditions and provide ongoing patient care

• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists

• Educate patients on digestive health and preventive care

• Maintain accurate medical documentation

• Stay current with advancements in gastroenterology

Required Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of gastroenterology and digestive disease management

• Proficiency in endoscopic procedures (as applicable)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong clinical judgment in fast-paced environments

• Effective time management and organizational skills

Education & Training

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

• Completed ACGME- or AOA-accredited internal medicine residency

• Fellowship training in gastroenterology (preferred for most roles)

Licensure & Certifications

• Board certification in Gastroenterology (ABIM or AOA)

• Active, unrestricted Ohio medical license

Experience

• Minimum one year of gastroenterology experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred
