Overview

This locum opportunity is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to provide weekend hospital call coverage due to lack of coverage. The role includes inpatient consults and required GI procedures, supported by on-site lab and imaging services.

Practice Highlights

• Weekend hospital call only (Saturday & Sunday)

• Adult patient population

• Outpatient Gastroenterology & Internal Medicine experience required

• Lab and X-ray available on-site

• No trauma designation

• EMR: Epic

• Average ~8 procedures per weekend

Required Procedures

• ERCP – REQUIRED

• Upper GI Endoscopy (diagnostic & therapeutic)

• Colonoscopy & Sigmoidoscopy

• Lower GI Endoscopy

• Liver Biopsy

• Small Bowel Biopsy

• Esophageal Dilatation & Manometry

• Esophageal Manometry Interpretation

• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) – Preferred

• Insertion/management of Sengstaken–Blakemore tube

• PEG placement

• Variceal banding, injection, fulguration, foreign body removal
  
  

Credentialing

• Estimated timeframe: ~90 days
  
  

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology – REQUIRED

• Active VA license – REQUIRED

• ERCP experience – REQUIRED

• EUS experience – Preferred

• Flu vaccine – REQUIRED

• COVID vaccine – Highly Preferred

• Must be available for listed open dates – REQUIRED

• Clean malpractice history required for temporary privileges – REQUIRED
