A healthcare system in Minot, ND is seeking a Gastroenterologist for a scopes-only locum assignment from February 2 to March 27, 2026. The role includes GI lab procedures, inpatient consults, and 24/7 pager call during the assignment. This is a high-volume endoscopy assignment with no outpatient clinic responsibilities. All procedures are performed in an endoscopy suite within the OR and full surgical, pathology, and radiology support is available.
Compensation Breakdown:

Regular Hourly Rate: $555

Weekend Night Call: $600 – $780

Call Back: $545 – $575

Weekend 24-Hour Call: $2,900 – $3,500 (includes 4 hours of gratis)
Job Responsibilities
• Complete 10–18 procedures per day in the GI lab.
• Handle 1–5 inpatient consults per day, including response to emergent GI cases (GI bleeds, trauma-related cases).
• Provide 24/7 pager call coverage during assignment dates.
• Manage emergent GI procedures as needed.
• Coordinate with hospitalists for inpatient rounding and follow-up.
• Collaborate with GI lab techs, surgeons, and clinic NP for workflow support.
• Document all patient encounters using the Cerner EMR system.
Qualifications
• Active medical license (ND or eligibility to obtain)
• Advanced GI skills such as ERCP/EUS preferred, but not required
• Experience managing emergent GI cases (GI bleeds, trauma)
• Comfortable with high-volume endoscopic procedures
• Ability to provide continuous 24/7 call coverage during assignment
Working Hours
• 24/7 pager call throughout the scheduled dates
• 5×8 schedule, 40 hours per week + call
• Weekends and holidays included within assignment timeframe
• 30-minute meal break
Skills
• Strong decision-making in emergent GI situations
• Ability to manage procedural volumes of up to 18 cases/day
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR
• Excellent communication with hospitalists, surgeons, and nursing staff
• Adaptability in a fast-paced GI procedural environment
