A hospital in Virginia is seeking Gastroenterology locum coverage for ongoing weekend 24-hour call (Friday 5p–Monday 7a).
Job Details:

Reason for Coverage: Lack of weekend GI coverage

Setting: Hospital call + some office/clinic support

Clinical Areas: Adult, inpatient, outpatient consults

Lab & X-ray onsite

EMR: EPIC
-
Outpatient GI & Internal Medicine experience required
-
No trauma designation
Open Dates:
January: 23–26, 30–Feb 2
February: 6–9, 13–16, 20–23, 27–Mar 2
March: 6–9, 13–16, 20–23, 27–30
April: 3–6, 10–13, 17–20, 24–27
May: 1–4, 8–11, 15–18, 22–26, 29–Jun 1
June: 5–8, 12–15, 19–22, 26–29
Required Procedures / Skills:
-
Esophageal dilation & manometry
-
Small bowel biopsy
-
Lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy
-
Liver biopsy
-
Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management
-
EUS (preferred)
-
ERCP (required)
-
Upper GI endoscopy including biopsy, foreign body removal, cautery, injection/banding of varices, PEG placement
-
Average 8 procedures per weekend across GI, hepatology, general surgery, colon, EGD, ERCP
Travel & Lodging:
-
Lodging reimbursement up to ~$150/night

Standard/economy travel only
Submission Requirements:
-
Board Certified Gastroenterologist – Required

Active VA license – Required
-
ERCP – Required
-
EUS – Preferred
-
Flu shot – Required
-
COVID vaccine – Highly preferred
-
Clean malpractice history – Required for temp privileges

Must be available for at least one open shift to be considered
