Position Overview:
Seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to provide inpatient and outpatient GI services for Veterans. This contract role includes endoscopic procedures, consultations, and clinical documentation within the VA electronic health record.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform colonoscopies and EGDs (diagnostic and therapeutic).
Provide inpatient and outpatient GI consults.
Complete procedures within 30 days of consult.
Deliver discharge education and follow-up care.
Document care in the VA EHR (CPRS).
Follow all VA patient safety, infection control, privacy, and medication policies.
Report patient safety incidents within 24 hours.
Participate in required quality/performance evaluations (FPPE/OPPE).
Requirements:
MD/DO with unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state).
Board Certified in Gastroenterology (ABIM).
Minimum 2 years GI experience.
Current BLS, ACLS, and DEA.
Meet all VA mandatory training, immunization (TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu), and OSHA requirements.
Maintain NPI, professionalism, timeliness, and full compliance with HIPAA and VA policies.
