Locum Tenens Gastroenterology Opportunity – Texas

A hospital in East Texas is seeking a Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist with ERCP capabilities to provide inpatient coverage. This is a strictly inpatient role with in-house and ER consults only—no outpatient clinic.

• Backup anesthesia available (conscious sedation preferred when possible)

• Shift: 7a–7a (24-hour call)

Clinical Details

• Setting: Inpatient only

• Daily Volume: Up to 10 rounding patients; procedures as needed

• Procedures: EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP (required)

• Cases Include: GI bleeds, abdominal pain, SBO, ulcers, gastritis, food bolus, diagnostic carcinoma workups (no treatment)

• Rounding: Yes

EMR

• Currently Paragon

• Planned transition to EPIC later in 2026

Credentialing

• Timeframe: 30–60 days

• Emergency Privileges: Available for clean files

Requirements

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology (highly preferred); BE accepted

• Active Texas license (required)

• GI residency completion

• ACLS (required)

• Clean malpractice history (highly preferred)

• No significant medical board actions
