Job description
Hospital is seeking a locum Gastroenterologist to provide hospital call and procedure coverage during late December and early January. This role includes comprehensive inpatient and outpatient GI care along with a full range of advanced endoscopic procedures. Coverage is needed due to a temporary lack of provider availability.

12/31 at 12:00 PM – 01/05 at 7:00 AM

Schedule: 24-hour hospital call (weekend-focused)

Credentialing Timeframe: ~90 days
Job Details / Responsibilities

Setting includes hospital call, outpatient clinic, and adult GI care
-
Full lab and X-ray onsite
-
EMR: Epic
-
Average of 8 GI procedures per weekend (GI, hepatology, surgery, colon, EGD, ERCP)
-
No trauma designation
-
Reason for coverage: Lack of provider availability
Required GI Procedures:
-
Esophageal dilatation
-
Esophageal manometry & interpretation
-
Small bowel biopsy
-
Sigmoidoscopy
-
Colonoscopy
-
Liver biopsy
-
Sengstacke/Blakemore tube placement & management
-
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
-
Upper GI endoscopy with:
-
Biopsy
-
Foreign body removal
-
Fulguration of bleeders
-
Variceal injection/banding
-
ERCP—Diagnostic & Therapeutic (Required, no exceptions)

PEG placement

Travel:
-
Lodging capped at ~$150/night

Standard/economy bookings only
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Board Certified in Gastroenterology
-
Active Virginia medical license
-
Flu vaccination
-
COVID vaccination (highly preferred)
-
Clean malpractice history for temporary privileges
-
Must be able to perform ERCP—required

Must be fully available for listed coverage dates
