Texas GI Locums Opportunity – Inpatient Only | ERCP Required | 2026 Dates Available

We’re seeking a Gastroenterologist for an inpatient-only locums assignment in Texas starting January 2026. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position providing comprehensive GI care, including ERCP.

Position Details:

• Setting: Inpatient only

• FTE: 1.0

• Procedures: Standard GI procedures (endoscopies, colonoscopies) + ERCP required

• EMR: Paragon (transitioning to EPIC in late 2026)

• Support: Experienced, endoscopy-trained GI nursing team

• Reason for Coverage: Permanent GI leaving

• Deal Breakers: Excessive malpractice history or medical board disciplinary actions

Clinical Expectations:

• Daily Volume: Up to 10 inpatient rounds per day + procedures as needed

• Sedation: Anesthesia backup available; conscious sedation preferred

• Rounding: Yes

• Admissions: Hospitalist team handles all admissions

• Case Types: Abdominal pain, GI bleed, SBO, food bolus, ulceration, gastritis, diagnostic carcinoma workup (no treatment)

Travel & Logistics:

• Lodging: Flexible—open to discussing preferred options

• Air Travel: Flexible based on candidate needs

Credentialing:

• Timeframe: 30–60 days

• Emergency Privileges: Possible for clean malpractice files (not required for Jan start)
