Locums – Gastroenterology – Rockport, Maine (IMLC Welcome)

Start Date: February 9, 2026 Contract Length: Ongoing / Long-term coverage

Schedule & Shift Details:

  • Specific coverage dates:

    • Feb 9–13, 2026

    • Feb 16–20, 2026

    • Mar 30–Apr 3, 2026

    • Apr 27–May 1, 2026

    • May 4–8, 2026

    • May 25–29, 2026

    • Jun 1–5, 2026

    • Jun 22–26, 2026

    • Jun 29–Jul 3, 2026

  • Monday–Friday, 8-hour day with 30-min lunch (7:00a–4:00p)

  • No weekends, no call

  • Call blocks built into schedule for urgent inpatient procedures (food bolus, bleeding, or ER consults)

  • No overtime unless preapproved

Position Overview: This locums gastroenterology role provides inpatient and outpatient coverage with a focus on lower and upper GI endoscopy procedures. The provider will work closely with full OR staff, an anesthesiologist, and a CRNA. Advanced procedures are preferred but not required. The schedule is predictable with no weekend or overnight call.

Daily Breakdown / Responsibilities:

  • 14–16 patients per day in clinic

  • Endoscopic procedures in the OR; occasionally one day/week in clinic

  • Respond to inpatient consults from ER or hospitalists as needed

  • Onsite lab and x-ray

Required Procedures:

  • Lower GI Endoscopy: Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy

  • Upper GI Endoscopy: Diagnostic, with biopsy, foreign body removal, banding of varices

  • Therapeutic procedures preferred but general endoscopy acceptable

Facility Details:

  • Practice Setting: Inpatient & outpatient / Hospital-based

  • Support Staff: Full OR staff with CRNA and anesthesiologist per gastroenterologist

  • EMR: Epic

  • Institutional ADR highly preferred (?35%)

Requirements:

  • Board Certified Gastroenterology (ABMS or AOA) – Required

  • Active Maine License or IMLC LOQ – Highly preferred

  • Provider must be available for the specific dates listed above and at least one week per month for the remainder of 2026

  • ACLS, BLS – Required

  • COVID and flu vaccine – Required
