Pen Bay Medical Center seeks a locum Gastroenterology Physician to provide weekday endoscopy, clinic coverage, and inpatient consults across multiple 2026 date blocks. This role focuses on routine GI procedures with optional advanced capabilities, offering consistent M–F scheduling with no nights, weekends, or call. The position requires a board-certified gastroenterologist available for all listed dates and ongoing monthly coverage.

• Schedule: M–F, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (8-hour day + 30-min lunch)

• No weekends, no call

• Call blocks built into schedule for daytime urgent inpatient needs (e.g., food bolus, bleeding)

Job Details / Responsibilities

• Perform GI endoscopy in the OR; approximately one clinic day per week.

• Conduct outpatient adult GI visits (14–16 patients/day).

• Provide inpatient consults during the day as needed.

• Perform required procedures:

  • Lower GI endoscopy

  • Sigmoidoscopy

  • Colonoscopy

  • Upper GI endoscopy (diagnostic, biopsy, foreign body removal, banding of varices)

• Advanced/therapeutic procedures preferred but not required.

• Work with full OR support staff; anesthesia provided by both a CRNA and anesthesiologist present in the room.

• Utilize EPIC EMR.

• ERCP not required.

• Credentialing timeframe: ~90 days.

Travel & Compensation Notes:

• Full travel covered: economy flights, hotel up to $200/night, standard rental car, mileage at IRS rate.

• Client requests daily rate in the $4,000–$5,000 range.

• Malpractice must be included in rates; bill rates required for daily, holiday, overtime, orientation, and conversion fee (cap $25k).

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified Gastroenterology (ABMS or AOA)

• Institutional ADR highly preferred (≥35% for all-gender ADR)

• Active ME license or IMLC LOQ highly preferred (will consider exceptional candidates needing licensing)

• Available full-time for all listed 2026 blocks + at least one week/month through remainder of year

• ACLS & BLS – required

• Ability to perform required GI procedures; note any advanced procedures at submission

• COVID and flu vaccination required

• Must be long-term capable and reliable for continued scheduling
