A leading Massachusetts hospital is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist for locum inpatient coverage. This ongoing assignment begins mid-December 2025, providing one week per month of hospital-based gastroenterology care. The position involves rounding, inpatient consults, and endoscopic procedures, with strong clinical and nursing support.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures as required.
• Participate in a 1:4 call rotation, carrying a beeper overnight during assigned shifts.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and the GI care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document all care in EPIC EMR in accordance with hospital policy.
Qualifications
• Active Massachusetts Medical License – Required
• BLS Certification – Required
• ERCP proficiency – Preferred but not required
• Clean professional background and hospital experience – Highly Preferred
Working Hours
• Frequency: 1 week per month, ongoing
• Start Date: Mid-December 2025
• Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 60 days
Skills
• Management of GI bleeds, foreign body removal, and variceal banding
• Proficiency in colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and upper GI endoscopy
• Strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and precise EPIC documentation
