Locum Tenens Gastroenterology Physician Position in Massachusetts!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide locum inpatient coverage beginning in mid-December 2025 in a facility in western Massachusetts. This is a locum tenens position covering inpatient consults, procedures, and emergency GI care due to a physician retirement. Outpatient responsibilities are not expected at this time and may be clarified later.

Dates / Schedule

• Start Date: Mid-December 2025

• Duration: Until permanent physician is hired

• Call Schedule: 1:4 call, Friday 4pm–Friday 4pm

• Call Duties: Floor, ED, ICU, emergent consults, and endoscopies (as needed); carry beeper overnight

Job Details / Responsibilities

• Setting: Inpatient gastroenterology (adult patients only)

• Clinical Areas: Hospital GI, Endoscopy

• Procedures Required:

  • Upper GI Endoscopy (various types): with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, injection and banding of varices, PEG placement

  • Lower GI: Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Small Bowel Biopsy

  • Other: Esophageal Dilatation, Manometry, Manometry Interpretation, Liver Biopsy

• Hospital Support:

  • Onsite lab and X-ray

  • Documentation via EPIC EMR

• Patient Volume: 4–12 patients/day

• Outpatient Care: Not required (subject to update)

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (BC preferred)

• Active Massachusetts medical license – Required

• BLS certification – Required

• ERCP certification – Preferred but not required

• Experience with core GI procedures and inpatient consults
