Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Gastroenterology Physician to provide ongoing coverage one week per month through the end of 2025 and into 2026 at a facility in Midcoast Maine. This position includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient care, focusing primarily on GI endoscopic procedures. Ideal candidates are board-certified in Gastroenterology and available for long-term part-time locum tenens work.
Schedule & Availability

Required Availability: At least one week per month through end of 2025 and into 2026

Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8-hour days (30-minute lunch), no weekends, no after-hours call (day call only: 7am–4pm)

Overtime: Not permitted unless pre-approved

Credentialing: 90-day process

Job Details & Responsibilities

Setting: Mix of inpatient (OR procedures, day-call consults) and outpatient (clinic 1x/week)

Procedures:
-
Required: Lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy
-
Upper GI: Biopsy, foreign body removal, banding of varices, diagnostic endoscopy

Therapeutic GI procedures preferred, but not required
-
ERCP not required

Patient Volume: 14–16 patients/day in clinic

Support:
-
Anesthesia: Always includes both Anesthesiologist and CRNA
-
Full OR staff provided

Onsite Facilities: Lab and X-ray

EMR: Epic
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Board Certified in Gastroenterology (ABMS or AOA) – Required
-
Active Maine License or IMLC LOQ – Highly Preferred
-
ACLS and BLS – Required
-
COVID and Flu Vaccinations – Required

Ability to perform general GI procedures; advanced procedure experience preferred

Must be able to work at least one full week per month

Must be available for long-term coverage

Institutional ADR ≥35% – Highly Preferred
