Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist for ongoing locum tenens coverage starting November 2025 and continuing into 2026. This is a great opportunity to work in a well-supported, collaborative environment with flexible scheduling and no weekends or after-hours call.
Position Overview

Duration: Ongoing through June 2026

Schedule:
-
Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM โ 4:00 PM)
-
No weekends, no overnight call
-
Must be available at least one full week per month
-
Preference given to candidates who can cover multiple or all listed weeks

Call: Day call only (7 AM โ 4 PM), primarily consults from ER/Hospitalists
Clinical Responsibilities
-
Perform inpatient and outpatient GI consults and procedures
-
Outpatient clinic 1 day/week (14โ16 patients/day)
-
Perform endoscopy procedures in the OR (lower and upper GI)
-
Therapeutic procedures preferred, but general GI accepted
-
Common inpatient procedures may include:
-
EGD with biopsy
-
Foreign body removal
-
Banding of varices
-
Diagnostic colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy

ERCP not required
Support & Environment

Full OR support staff
-
Onsite CRNA and anesthesiologist present during procedures

Onsite lab and imaging
-
EMR: Epic
-
Travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage provided

Qualifications
Active Maine medical license or ability to obtain
