Locum Gastroenterologist Opportunity – Maine

We are seeking a Locum Gastroenterology Physician to provide coverage for the dates listed below.

Schedule

• Provider must be available to work at least one week per month for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026 (required).

• Monday–Friday, 8-hour days with a 30-minute lunch.

• No overtime, unless pre-approved.

• Inpatient cases required. Locum will be on day call (7am–4pm) and may receive calls from the Emergency Department or Hospitalists for urgent procedures (e.g., food bolus removal, GI bleed management).

• Call blocks are built into the schedule. Some days may have no calls, others may have several.

Position Details

• Endoscopy procedures in OR; possible one day per week in clinic.

• Adult outpatient only.

• Support staff: Full OR team.

• No weekends, no call.

• Focus on scopes (14–16 patients/day in clinic).

• Onsite lab and X-ray.

• EMR: Epic.

• ERCP not required.

• Advanced procedures preferred, but not mandatory.

• Full travel covered.

• Credentialing timeframe: ~90 days.

Anesthesia & Procedures

• Anesthesia support: Both CRNA and Anesthesiologist available per procedure.

• Always an Anesthesiologist + CRNA in the room.

• No advanced procedures required, but experience is welcome.

Required Procedures:

• Lower GI Endoscopy

• Sigmoidoscopy

• Colonoscopy

• Upper GI Endoscopy (Diagnostic, with Biopsy, with Foreign Body Removal, with Banding of Varices)

Additional:

• Prefer providers comfortable with therapeutic procedures (not mandatory).

Rates & Logistics

• Daily rate: $4,000

• Travel covered:

  • Flights: economy only.

  • Hotel: up to $200/night (after taxes/fees).

  • Rental car: standard only (no SUVs/premium).

  • Mileage: reimbursed at IRS standard rate.
