A healthcare facility in Rockport, ME is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for ongoing locum coverage. The provider will perform inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology procedures, including general endoscopic and therapeutic interventions.
Job Responsibilities
Manage inpatient consults and urgent GI cases (e.g., GI bleed, food bolus removal).
Provide outpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care.
Collaborate with a full OR staff including CRNAs and Anesthesiologists.
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR.
Participate in scheduled day-call rotation for inpatient needs (no overnight call).
Qualifications
Active Maine License – Highly Preferred (will consider IMLC or licensing candidates)
ACLS and BLS Certifications – REQUIRED
Must be available for at least one week per month (through 2026) – REQUIRED
Experience performing upper and lower GI endoscopic procedures – REQUIRED
COVID-19 and Flu vaccination – REQUIRED
Advanced procedure experience (preferred but not required)
Working Hours
Shift: 8-hour day (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Lunch: 30 minutes
Overtime: Not permitted unless preapproved
On Call: No overnight call (day call only during shift hours)
Skills
Ability to manage inpatient GI consults and urgent cases
Collaborative communication with hospitalist and emergency teams
EMR proficiency (Epic)
