Job description
We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterology Physician to provide inpatient locum tenens coverage starting mid-December 2025. The physician will join a collaborative team of four gastroenterologists, providing high-quality care for hospitalized adult patients requiring gastroenterology consultations, procedures, and follow-up.
This is an inpatient-focused role with no outpatient clinic requirements at this time. The position offers a supportive environment with onsite lab, imaging services, and a dedicated hospital staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform required endoscopic and gastrointestinal procedures, including:
- Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Upper GI Endoscopy (diagnostic & therapeutic)
- PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
- Esophageal Dilatation and Manometry
- Small Bowel and Liver Biopsies
- Manage emergent and urgent gastroenterology cases in the Floor, ED, and ICU.
- Participate in a 1:4 call rotation, covering inpatient consults and procedures.
- Document all clinical activities accurately in the EPIC EMR system.
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (Board Certified preferred).
- Active Massachusetts Medical License (required).
- Current BLS certification (required).
- ERCP certification – preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical and procedural skills in general gastroenterology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
