Job description
Exciting locum tenens Gastroenterology opportunity in South Carolina starting 11/24/2025 with ongoing coverage needs. This is a 100% inpatient role with 24-hour call coverage. Physicians can expect a daily patient load of ~16 patients, including 6 consults, while collaborating with a 4-physician group and weekday APP support. Solo coverage is required during nights and weekends, making this a great opportunity for confident, independent GI specialists.
The hospital requires a full range of GI procedures including colonoscopy, liver biopsy, esophageal dilatation/manometry with interpretation, sigmoidoscopy, and lower GI endoscopy. Upper GI endoscopies include diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as PEG placement, foreign body removal, cautery/laser, and injection/banding of varices. ERCP experience is highly preferred but not required.

Job Responsibilities
Manage daily rounds, consults, and emergent GI cases
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
Collaborate with physician colleagues and APP team during weekdays
Qualifications
Active South Carolina license (or IMLC accepted)
Minimum 2 years recent inpatient GI experience preferred
Comfortable handling a broad range of GI cases independently
Working Hours
Ongoing coverage starting November 2025
Skills
Strong endoscopic skills across upper and lower GI tract
Ability to work independently during night/weekend solo coverage
EMR proficiency (Epic)
