CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Lufkin, TX, is actively seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist with ERCP capabilities for a full-time locum position at their inpatient facility, with a planned start date of January 1, 2026. This opportunity is open to one or two locums, and coverage can be provided on one- or two-week stretches.
Position Overview:
- Facility: CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Lufkin, 1201 W Frank Ave, Lufkin, TX 75904
- Setting: Inpatient only (No outpatient work)
- Required Procedures: Standard GI procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, and ERCP
- FTE: 1 Full-Time Position
- EMR: Currently using Paragon, with plans to switch to EPIC later in 2026
- Support Staff: Endoscopy-trained GI nursing staff for procedures
- Reason for Coverage: Permanent GI physician is leaving
Job Responsibilities
• Perform GI procedures (endoscopies, colonoscopies, ERCP)
• Round on up to 10 patients per day
• Manage ER consults and in-house procedures
• The hospital/Hospitalists will handle patient admissions; the locum will not be responsible for admissions
• Handle various GI cases including abdominal pain, GI bleeds, SBO, food bolus, ulceration, gastritis, and potentially diagnosing carcinoma
Qualifications
• Board Certification or Eligibility: REQUIRED
• Texas Medical License or IMLC Letter of Qualification in hand: REQUIRED
• ACLS Certification: REQUIRED- we can help with this if need be.
• Malpractice: Clean record preferred
• Credentialing: Timeframe for credentialing is 30-60 days, with emergency credentialing available for clean files (though not necessary with a January start).
