Non-core privileges: Therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatographies (ERCP)

Initial privileges if completion of training is within past 36 months:

Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited program in gastroenterology that included training in ERCP of a minimum 150 procedures (including 40 spincterotomies and 10 stent placements), and a letter from the Gastroenterology Program Director or supervising Gastroenterology Instructor attesting to the applicant’s competence in performing ERCPs.

Required current experience:

Demonstrated current competence and evidence of the performance of at least 40 therapeutic ERCP procedures, 10 sphincterotomies and 10 stent placements in the past 12 months.

OR

Initial privileges if completion of training is greater than 36 months:

Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited program in gastroenterology that included training in ERCP, or if program did not include ERCP, evidence of ERCP training.

Required current experience:

Demonstrated current competence and evidence of the performance of at least 60 therapeutic ERCP procedures, 15 sphincterotomies and 15 stent placements in the past 24 months.

Non-core privileges: Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Fine Needle Aspiration

Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited program in gastroenterology that included training in EUS of a minimum 100 procedures with at least 20 fine needle aspirations

AND

Required current experience:

Demonstrated current competence and evidence of the performance of at least 20 therapeutic EUS procedures in the past 12 months or completion of training in the past 12 months.

Minimum Board Certification: BE
