The director will:
• Develop, implement, and evaluate the medical practice delivery model in accordance with the objectives and goals of organization.
• Collaborate with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, executive director, practice manager, and volunteer physicians to provide appropriate, high-quality, culturally competent, preventive and primary care to our patients.
• Perform direct patient care and leadership/management duties.
• Assume major responsibility for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with other physicians, specialists, and sub-specialists as well as other clinical providers. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities or skills required for the position.

Our Values:
• Show compassion for all patients and family members.

Most of their patients are uninsured, and many are monolingual Spanish speakers. Dedication to caring for underserved populations and cultural competency are key requirements for this position

Clinical Services:

• Being available for phone or in-person consultations with other providers and clinic staff.
• Working closely with volunteer and contract staff for training and programmatic oversight.
• Working with the Executive Director and Practice Manager to identify and implement innovative approaches to the delivery of care, e.g., education program, new teaching programs, etc.
• Participating in the orientation of volunteer medical providers regarding the operating policies and procedures of the clinic.
• Spending, on average, 75% of time on clinical duties and 25% on administration.
• When absent, ensuring that a qualified substitute is available to serve as the clinic's medical consultant.

Administrative Duties:
• Assisting in the recruitment, orientation, and retention of mid-level providers, medical staff, medical volunteers, and specialty physicians.
• Promoting favorable relationships between volunteer physicians, the clinic, and the medical community

Clinical Oversight:
Providing technical expertise, medical direction, and supervision as well as overall support to the clinical staff, volunteer physicians, and students/interns. In this capacity, the Medical Director will:
• Conduct clinical supervision of nurse practitioners or other mid-level practitioners.
• In conjunction with the Executive Director, hold meetings with the clinical staff and coordinators to address issues related to clinical care on a bi-monthly basis or when deemed necessary.
• Develop, implement and review/revise medical policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures for clinic operations.

• Current Colorado license to practice medicine as an M.D. or a D.O.
• Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) certification
• Bilingual capability in English and Spanish
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to work well with volunteers.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Passion to help the underserved and uninsured.
• Three years' experience in a medical practice preferred.

Benefits include organization sponsored health insurance stipend, malpractice coverage, paid-time-off, CME reimbursement of $1,500 per year, and an employer match on SIMPLE IRA retirement plans. Other voluntary benefits include AFLAC insurance. Loan repayment opportunities are available through the National Health Service Corps and the Colorado Health Service Corps programs.
