The Chief Medical Director position is responsible for ensuring oversight for the facilities in their respective market. The Chief Medical Director ensures adequate staffing and after-hours call coverage for all the facilities they manage.


Responsible for Medical Outcomes, Quality, Assistance in developing proposals for new business (RFP’s), budgetary calculations, developing and maintaining Primary Care and Specialist Networks, and ensuring an Integrated Care Delivery system in their respective market.


Duties and responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Evaluates the facilities they manage in order to identify potential action plans for improvement
  • Meets with all Medical Directors they manage weekly to review productivity and outcome metrics
  • Provides Peer to peer review/assistance due to clinical issues, hospital issues, or unexpected events
  • Conducts quarterly site visits for each site they manage and sees patients at each site to ensure staff compliance with schedules, referrals, Armor’s P&P’s, clinical pathways, and any other clinical opportunities for improvement
  • Site visits may require a more focused review of a clinician or opportunity depending on feedback from the Clinical Operations Team
  • Develops, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, clinical guidelines/pathways, or Policies and Procedures to provide the best healthcare possible
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of Morbidity and Mortality cases, JOCs/Executive Leadership meetings as needed
  • Works with Clinical Operations team to establish recurring quarterly Joint Operating Committee (JOC) meetings with preferred specialty groups in order to provide them feedback on clinical opportunities for improvement, capture rates, and utilization
  • Provide vendor feedback for opportunities for improved processes, performance and cost-effective healthcare delivery
  • UM call coverage
  • Member of the Credentialing Committee
  • Member of the Pharmacy Committee
  • Behavioral health clinical support as needed

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • State license as an M.D. or D.O.
  • Board certified or board eligible
  • DEA license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Supervisory experience in correctional health care preferred
  • Other relevant professional experiences or educational backgrounds will be considered as deemed appropriate. However, when licensure is required by local, state, federal or contractual guidelines, we will not alter our position on those requirements.
