Job/Practice Description:


  • The physician must provide clinical care to patients in accordance with regulations to include but not limited to obtaining patient history, ordering labs and diagnostic studies


  • Consults with the Clinical Director or appropriate specialist on difficult cases.


  • Recommends and arranges transfer of patients.


  • Makes daily rounds, visits patients, observing their condition and response to treatment


  • Takes call with other medical practitioners on the staff as assigned.


  • Visits village clinic throughout the region as assigned.


Profile Background:


  • Graduation with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from a U.S. medical school, or an Osteopathic Medical School listed as approved by the American Council on Graduate Medication/Education and hospitals, American Medical Association in the list published for the year of graduation.


  • Completion of an approved internship/residency in Family Practice. Foreign medical school graduates may be considered if they have passed the FLEX Exam or equivalent and completed an approved U.S. internship or residency program.


  • Permanent and full or unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Alaska.


  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., pediatric/adult/geriatric).


  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.


  • Provide the care needed as described in the assigned unit’s policies and procedures.


  • Must successfully pass the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention (ICPA) background check.
