Job description
We are seeking a Family Medicine physician for a locum tenens position in Richmond, VA. This is a full-time outpatient opportunity in a community health center setting, providing comprehensive primary care to patients across the family unit. Please see below for more information.
Job Responsibilities
Perform physical examinations of new and existing patients and determine the imaging and clinical laboratory studies required
Interpret examination findings and test results and implement treatment plans
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, prescribe medications, and coordinate referrals
Prepare and review case histories and obtain patient data through interview
Determine the need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists
Participate in surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, and critical care procedures according to individual training and demonstrated ability; OB experience is not required for this position
Carry a daily census of approximately 25 patients
Close all patient encounters by 8:30 AM the following morning
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered, culturally competent care and support quality improvement initiatives
Instruct other healthcare providers and non-medical personnel in health-related topics, including first-aid measures, basic and advanced cardiac life support, and healthcare maintenance
May provide teaching and supervision to residents, practitioners, and students
Assignment location may rotate among three outpatient sites in the greater Richmond, VA area based on operational need
Practice under the direction of the Medical Director
Qualifications
Successful completion of an accredited residency training program in family practice
Active Virginia medical license
Current DEA registration
ECFMG certification required for foreign medical graduates
Working Hours
8-hour day shifts
Potential extended hours until 7:00 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays
No call required
