Job description
We are seeking a Family Medicine physician for a locum tenens position in San Antonio, Texas. This assignment provides primary care coverage in a long-term care setting serving an adult population with intellectual and developmental disabilities and co-occurring behavioral health needs. Please see below for more information.
Job Responsibilities
Manage the ongoing medical care of residents with co-occurring behavioral health and psychiatric conditions
Evaluate and manage acute changes in medical and behavioral status
Provide medical-surgical care within the scope of the resident population
Coordinate care with area hospitals for residents requiring transfer, and manage post-emergency department and post-hospitalization follow-up
Provide home call coverage, triaging and directing resident care needs by phone
Maintain clinical documentation in accordance with facility and state requirements
Qualifications
Active DEA certification
American Heart Association-approved CPR certification, maintained for the duration of the assignment
Must be credentialed with hospitals utilized by the facility
Working Hours
40 hours per week
On-call required
Home call one night per week, 5:00 PM - 8:00 AM (average of 5 calls)
One weekend per month of home call, Friday 5:00 PM - Monday 8:00 AM (average of 25 calls)
