Washington Regional Medical System, Northwest Arkansas' only locally owned, locally governed, not-for-profit hospital and health system, is seeking an exceptional full-time, BC/BE Family Medicine physician to serve as Medical Director of Practice Transformation & Primary Care. This dual clinical and leadership role is ideal for a physician passionate about advancing high-quality primary care, population health, and value-based care within a strong health system.
The Medical Director is a key member of the WRMS management team and collaborates closely with primary care practices, senior leadership, and hospital leadership to support vital initiatives across integrated care delivery and payment models.
Job Responsibilities
• Partner directly with Washington Regional Practice Transformation to oversee and implement value based care contracts and care delivery initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with the VP of Clinic Operations and clinic managers supporting primary care practices.
• Conduct annual or semi annual onsite visits with each primary care practice to:
o Share strategic updates
o Address operational challenges
o Gather provider feedback
Direct engagement and relationship building are essential to this role.
• Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality improvement processes across all primary care practices.
• Ensure compliant billing, coding, and documentation practices are consistently maintained by all providers.
• Oversee appropriate utilization, supervision, and integration of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), ensuring strong physician oversight and effective team based care.
• Participate actively in physician and provider workforce planning and recruitment.
• Contribute to building and sustaining an organizational structure that supports the delivery of the highest quality patient care.
Clinical Responsibilities
• Maintain active clinical practice with protected administrative time.
• Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients from newborns to adults.
• Deliver care through both in person and telemedicine visits.
• Participate in shared outpatient call coverage, determined by clinic location.
Qualifications
• Board Certification (or Board Eligible) in a Primary Care discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of primary care practice experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience and strong interest in practice transformation and value based care preferred
